My daughter got really into those old-fashioned "paint by numbers" kits. The paints all arrive in fine condition when you open the box but the varnish is always harder than a stale jawbreaker. What's a good non-toxic varnish, other than clear nail polish?
Remember that father in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" who used Windex to fix everything? Alyssa always keeps a jar of Mod Podge in the house 'cause it works for just about everything.
Last year Hilary bought Alyssa's daughter a cookbook and Annabelle has spent the better part of the year perfecting the cookbook's macaroni and cheese recipe. Here's her version--the first one the children like that doesn't come out of a box and doesn't involve some sort of flourescent orange substance. The topping is our own special addition...but be forewarned: you won't be able to stop at one bite!
