The weather outside is frightful so many of our readers have been planning getaways for February and March. Some travel info from this week's momcierge.com...

Travel Muse

Q: Help! I need a little inspiration for a family vacation! --Karen

A: Just found Travel Muse, a new site where you can explore and discover, research and plan and make reservations. In the Inspiration Finder section you choose how many travellers, time of year, what sort of accomodations you prefer, budget...then you ckick off what activities you enjoy on vaca, from zip lining to caving then the man behind the curtain suggests some possible get-aways.

Car Service to the Airport

Q:  Which car service do you use to the airport? I've had bad luck with all of them!–-Alison

A:  Overall, we've had pretty good luck with New Day. They've been reliable and fast and we like their prices. If you need to have car seats, Legends Limousine comes highly recommended by a few friends with babies.

Delicious Baby Travel

We're trying to plan some spring break get-aways and stumbled upon this site, Delicious Baby. It's filled with City Guides and itineraries for travel with children in Europe and the U.S. and tons of travel tips all aimed at making travel with children fun. It's not like the old days when you could just give them Benedryl and pack a flask for yourself.

Passport Question

Q:  We need to get our kids some passports (American).  My son is 3 years old, and his sister is 7 months. What is the fastest way to accomplish this?-–Scott

A:  Unles you're leaving in the next two weeks, your best bet is to download all the forms from the USPS website, have photos taken, and then have your entire family go to the nearest post office with a passport window. The deal is that if both parents are not present, you'll need to have a notarized letter from the absent parent stating that the children have permission to get a passport. Speaking from experience, it's easier to have all of you go than it is to find a notary. Make sure you have all the necessary paperwork (birth certificates, your passports, etc) to avoid having to make a second trip. They tell you it takes a month or so, but in our experience those passports typically arrive much quicker. P.S. Pay extra to get them returned to you via Express Mail with tracking!

Custom Bathing Suits

Q:  Getting ready to head on vacation. I need a new bathing suit, but pickins are slim. Do you have any ideas? –-Lori

A: Hilary had a suit made last year by Keiko in Chelsea. Disregard the neon spandex speedos (the shop is in Chelsea) and pick out a style you like. She'll make it to fit perfectly. A little higher here. a little more coverage there.

tip o’ the week: Super Easy Mac 'n Cheese

April 27, 2009 4:46 AM Filed Under: RECIPES TIP O' THE WEEK

Last year Hilary bought Alyssa's daughter a cookbook and Annabelle has spent the better part of the year perfecting the cookbook's macaroni and cheese recipe. Here's her version--the first one the children like that doesn't come out of a box and doesn't involve some sort of flourescent orange substance. The topping is our own special addition...but be forewarned: you won't be able to stop at one bite!
