Have you ever ordered tickets through Broadway Box? Is it legit?
As a matter of fact, a friend introduced us to this site just a few weeks ago and we've already ordered tickets to Guys and Dolls. So yes...between this site and Theatermania, it's a pretty good bet you can find a discount to almost any show.
Correct me if I am wrong, but are children under 4 years old not allowed into NYC broadway shows? If they aren't, what shows are appropriate for a 3 year old who loves music? He would so LOVE to see the Lion King....
We've never had anyone check ID at the door...Alyssa took her daughter to see "The Music Man" just after her 3rd birthday (she was obsessed with the movie) and "Annie Get Your Gun" not long after...if your son has already been to the movies without issue (the dark, the loud volume) and he knows all the music, we don't see any problem taking him to a Broadway show. Well, as long as it's a kid show and you're prepared to leave in case of emergency! Best advice is to make sure it's something he knows well already: Lion King, Mary Poppins, Shrek, The Little Mermaid. We'd probably skip Equus, even if he is a fan of Harry Potter.
We'll be visiting NYC over the holidays and I'd like to take my children (ages 8 and 12) to some performances. We already have tickets to Mary Poppins. Anything else special that you know of?
Aside from Broadway, there's always the Radio City Christmas Show, which is completely cheesy and totally fabulous. The Music Hall, the Rockettes, the Organ (get your minds out of the gutter here!). On the classier end, Julie Taymor's amazing production of "The Magic Flute" is being performed over the holidays at the Metropolitan Opera. Don't freak because you saw the word "opera"--the performance is short, sweet, in English, and features amazing scenery, puppetry, and gorgeous music. And going to the Met is truly an only in NYC experience.
Have you heard anything about the show coming to Broadway? Got a special offer to buy tickets but I haven't heard anything about it.
Our friends in Seattle, who saw it during the out-of-town tryout, had surprisingly good things to say and there are some serious Broadway players in the cast. We did buy our tickets already...we'll get back to you in January with the real lowdown. For those of you who don't have a discount code...go to broadwayoffers.com and use the discount code SHTMC78
Last year Hilary bought Alyssa's daughter a cookbook and Annabelle has spent the better part of the year perfecting the cookbook's macaroni and cheese recipe. Here's her version--the first one the children like that doesn't come out of a box and doesn't involve some sort of flourescent orange substance. The topping is our own special addition...but be forewarned: you won't be able to stop at one bite! … [see more]
