Signing In

September 11, 2008 11:30 AM Filed Under: PARTIES  Q & A

Where can I get a photo turned into a party sign-in board?

Photowow has tons of options, ranging from pop art and collages to special borders or cartoons...or they'll gladly work with you to create the sign-in board of your dreams. When you're on their site, order a semi-gloss print in whatever size you want and have it foam-core mounted. Their customer service is really helpful!

Birthday Brunch

I'm doing a two-year-old birthday party at home on a Sunday morning. Any thoughts about what to serve?

After you stir up a pitcher of mimosas, set out a platter of mini bagels and a fruit salad. Some of the kids will go for the bagels but a big ol' platter of chicken nuggets will surely be a crowd pleaser.

The Magic Show

My son really wants to have a magician at his birthday party but I don't have room (or stamina) for all those kids in my apartment. Any ideas for outside places?

Alyssa's son had a party at Fantasma Magic, right across from Madison Square Garden. The kids loved it and they take care of everything (pizza, cake, goody bags). The magician was terrific and the kids especially loved seeing the birthday boy levitate.

Bouncy Bouncy

I want to rent a bouncy castle, cotton candy machine, and the like for my daughter's birthday. Do you have a reliable source?

Send in the Clowns provides the moon bounce, the bungee jump, the cotton candy, the popcorn maker, and all for our school spring fair every year. They have shown up on time year after year! And don't forget to let the adults have a go at the moon bounce aftter the kids go to bed.

Need a creative, fun birthday party idea for somewhat jaded 12-year-old-boy....Can you help me?  Is my "tweener" too old for momcierge? THANK YOU!

How about Ripley's Believe it or Not in Times Square. They have a Totally Gross party and a Magical Mystery party. Or, You could take a road trip (yikes) to New Roc City in New Rochelle. It's a huge complex with an indoor go cart track, 18 movie theatres, glow in the dark bowling, arcades, pool tables, helicopter simulators, ice skating.....Give 'em some mula and set them loose!

Zoo Party

Can you have birthday parties at the Central Park Zoo?

Why yes, yes you can. All Zoo parties must be booked through Birthdaybakers Partymakers. We don't recommend the breakfast in the penguin house. Don't ask.

I'm having 25 people for Rosh Hashanah dinner and I need tables and chairs. I called a couple places and they won't rent such a small amount. Is there any place that will rent just a few things?

Try Granny's. They rent just about anything, including just a few tables and chairs and even kids' tables and chairs.

it must be thursday...
tip o’ the week: Super Easy Mac 'n Cheese

April 27, 2009 4:46 AM Filed Under: RECIPES TIP O' THE WEEK

Last year Hilary bought Alyssa's daughter a cookbook and Annabelle has spent the better part of the year perfecting the cookbook's macaroni and cheese recipe. Here's her version--the first one the children like that doesn't come out of a box and doesn't involve some sort of flourescent orange substance. The topping is our own special addition...but be forewarned: you won't be able to stop at one bite! [see more]
