newsletter: Sweet Tooth

October 28, 2008 4:25 AM Filed Under: NEWSLETTER

Sure Halloween is just around the corner. The costumes are ready, the razor blades are in the apples, and the spider webs are hung by the fire with care. But let's get down to brass tacks...who cares about all that when there's a big ol' pillowcase filled with candy sitting on the table? Since candy's first and foremost on our minds this week, we wanted to share our favorite sites for catching a sugar buzz. We apologize in advance for any typos. It's hard to type while you're having a root canal. [see more]

newsletter: MOMCIERGE FIELD TRIP: Williamsburg

October 21, 2008 4:25 AM Filed Under: SHOPPING  NEWSLETTER  NYC ACTIVITIES

Is it just us or does it seem like every week In New York Magazine or the Times...it's all about Brooklyn? What is this Williamsburg place and why is everyone flocking there to shop and eat? And would we have to wear Colonial garb? We decided to take a field trip one day last week. Let's just say it started with a ride on the M train (who knew there was an M train) and a man wearing nothing but boxer shorts standing on the subway platform.

Here is our story... [see more]

newsletter: Fall Foliage

October 14, 2008 4:26 AM Filed Under: FALL  NYC ACTIVITIES  NEWSLETTER

Every year we swear we're going to go see some fall foliage and this year is no exception. We've been checking the I Love New York Foliage Forecaster to see what the "leaf peepers" are saying. Please note that "leaf peeper" is an official term and has nothing to do with the strange man hiding in the bushes staring into your window.

Based on foliage predictions, we'd better bust a move within the next two weeks before all we're seeing are naked trees and wet leaves on the ground. Here's what we're thinking... [see more]

October 07, 2008 4:25 AM Filed Under: NEWSLETTER  RECIPES  FALL

Have you all been apple picking yet? No matter if it's upstate New York, western New Jersey, eastern Long Island or the Union Square Greenmarket...we all get home and face the same dilemma. What am I gonna do with ALL THESE APPLES?

After you've made a couple of apple head dolls, a few thousand sheets of apple print wrapping paper, and unloaded apples on everyone from your doorman to the school bus driver, it's time to get down to cooking and, dammit, we're gonna have fun doing it...[see more]

newsletter: Gossip Girls

September 30, 2008 4:25 AM Filed Under: NEWSLETTER

After we've finished reading People, Tiger Beat, and OK! we need to move on to something a little bit less intellectually demanding. How low can you go? You have no idea.

Think rude, crude, lewd, and possibly even offensive. We love 'em. The perfect way to kill an hour or five at work...or until your Lunesta kicks in at night. And while we're certainly not the kind of girls who would gossip and tell tales out of school...we're certainly not above reading them...[see more]

newsletter: Cast Your Vote

September 23, 2008 4:25 AM Filed Under: NEWSLETTER

Six weeks until election day and still lots of unanswered questions: 1) Who was the fattest President? 2) How much does the President earn? 3) How do you get to be President?

Answers: 1) William Howard Taft. He weighed over 350 pounds. His mama called him "my pudgy wudgy boy."  2) $400,000 a year plus 3 hots and a cot. 3) Practice.

When Hilary's son, Brooks, asked if the Electoral College football team was in the Big 10 we were pretty sure the answer was no, but we figured we'd better look into it a little more. [see more]

tip o’ the week: Super Easy Mac 'n Cheese

April 27, 2009 4:46 AM Filed Under: RECIPES TIP O' THE WEEK

Last year Hilary bought Alyssa's daughter a cookbook and Annabelle has spent the better part of the year perfecting the cookbook's macaroni and cheese recipe. Here's her version--the first one the children like that doesn't come out of a box and doesn't involve some sort of flourescent orange substance. The topping is our own special addition...but be forewarned: you won't be able to stop at one bite! [see more]
