Need A New Mattress

March 30, 2009 10:35 AM Filed Under: FURNITURE  HOUSEWARES  Q & A

I need to buy a new mattress. The choice is overwhelming, and I don't have time to research. Any suggestions?

Alyssa loves her Tempur-Pedic mattress so much "she wants to marry it!" Of course, that's news to her husband. It's totally changed the way she thinks about mattresses--once upon a time, she thought those big fluffy beds at fancy hotels were the best. Now when she goes on vacation, she misses her own bed more than anything else! BTW, 1-800-MATTRES is going out of business so try Sleepy's. Tempur-Pedic mattresses are the same price everywhere!

Sleek Cooler

Have you ever come across a modern-style water cooler for residential use?

As much as a water cooler could be sleek or stylish, these guys from Aquaverve are. They're pretty pricey but good accessories always are. We like the Pacifik model....it makes us look skinny.

Help. My towels are disgusting and I have company coming this weekend! I'd like really soft and fluffy ones at a good price.

You're in luck. Restoration Hardware has great towels and linens and they're all on sale now!

Pretty Decoupage

Recently on a trip to NY, I saw some beautiful glass decoupage dishes and trays. I can't remember where, help!

There are two fabulous places in NYC that have huge selections of decoupage accessories: Kaas Glassworks and John Derian. Both shops handmake everything in their NYC studios.

Ceramic Hand

Where can I get one of those ceramic hands to put my rings on?

Oh yeah, those hand thingamabobbers to keep your rings on. Fishs Eddy has a basic white ceramic hand. Kinda cool, kinda weird.

it must be sunday...
tip o’ the week: Super Easy Mac 'n Cheese

April 27, 2009 4:46 AM Filed Under: RECIPES TIP O' THE WEEK

Last year Hilary bought Alyssa's daughter a cookbook and Annabelle has spent the better part of the year perfecting the cookbook's macaroni and cheese recipe. Here's her version--the first one the children like that doesn't come out of a box and doesn't involve some sort of flourescent orange substance. The topping is our own special addition...but be forewarned: you won't be able to stop at one bite! [see more]
