Have a 50th birthday lunch for a girlfriend and need to bring a little gag gift. Where can I find something cute and clever?
Take a look at BlueQ. We love those little tin banks (I'm Saving Up for Some Plastic Surgery!), the funny magnets (especially the Naked Guys with Balls set), bubble baths (love the Dirty Girl line), and the air fresheners (might have to order the disco ball one).
My ten-year-old daughter is begging me for a "pretty" umbrella but A) I don't want to spend a fortune on one and B) hard to find something between baby ones and ones that would appeal to her.
Did you have a bubble umbrella when you were a kid? Totes has a whole new line of clear ones--some with fancy designs. They're the perfect price point (under $20) and as we're typing this, we're thinking this is a great gift for a tween!
Just found out we are celebrating my 7 year old niece's birthday this weekend. She's into pigs. Any good books with pig characters other than Charlottes Web? Any pig themed anything you can think of? Thanks Momcierge!
Look for Piggie Pie, Babe: The Gallant Pig (a great book before it was a movie), and Ace: The Very Important Pig. If you can find any of the old Freddy the Pig series by Walter Brooks (they're old but wonderful). You might also want to pop into Pylones--they had a bunch of pig things like a purse, jumprope, scissors the last time we checked.
We're going to visit another family next weekend and need a good suggestion for a house gift, but no wine please.
Alyssa's family is really enjoying the Trivial Pursuit Family Edition game and Hilary's family is hooked on Bingo. You can't go wrong with either one (or both!).
I need a gift for a friend's daughter. She's really into ballet, but she already has all the proper attire and what not. Any ideas?
How about a tube of smiley-face toe tape. She'll be the envy of all the other dancers.
Help!! I need a gift idea for my in-law's 45 anniversary!! They live in NYC.
There's always the ever-popular dinner and theater tickets...or a night in a hotel in NYC (something they'd probably never do for themselves). Other thoughts: a year of floral delivery, a monogrammed lucite tray, a gift certificate to the Institute for Culinary Education to take a class, slide show DVD filled with family photos, a day at the Mandarin Oriental Spa in the special VIP suite (or at the Great Jones Spa). If none of these work, there's always the gift that keeps on giving...matching Snuggies.
Last year Hilary bought Alyssa's daughter a cookbook and Annabelle has spent the better part of the year perfecting the cookbook's macaroni and cheese recipe. Here's her version--the first one the children like that doesn't come out of a box and doesn't involve some sort of flourescent orange substance. The topping is our own special addition...but be forewarned: you won't be able to stop at one bite! … [see more]
