Every year we swear we're going to go see some fall foliage and this year is no exception. We've been checking the I Love New York Foliage Forecaster to see what the "leaf peepers" are saying. Please note that "leaf peeper" is an official term and has nothing to do with the strange man hiding in the bushes staring into your window.
Based on foliage predictions, we'd better bust a move within the next two weeks before all we're seeing are naked trees and wet leaves on the ground. Here's what we're thinking... … [see more]
Are there any pumpkin patches outside the city that are nearby?
Yes! But keep in mind that picking a pumpkin only takes about 4 minutes so you might want to choose a place that has apple picking and a corn cannon. The Queens County Farm Museum has a corn maze, farm animals, pumpkins, and a hayride. They're open every Saturday and Sunday through the end of October (and also on Columbus Day). The total package...and you don't have to leave the city limits. Note: don't go Queens looking for the Sarah Palin corn maze, she's in Ohio.
It's Fall so it's apple picking time. Where should we go close to the city?
Oh...the old Sunday drive to see the leaves changing, drink some cider, pick some apples and shoot a cob o' corn from a cannon. A whole day's worth of family fun....away we go....
Last year Hilary bought Alyssa's daughter a cookbook and Annabelle has spent the better part of the year perfecting the cookbook's macaroni and cheese recipe. Here's her version--the first one the children like that doesn't come out of a box and doesn't involve some sort of flourescent orange substance. The topping is our own special addition...but be forewarned: you won't be able to stop at one bite! … [see more]
