Charitable Gifts

December 17, 2008 11:01 AM Filed Under: CHARITY  GIFTS  Q & A

I am giving charitable donations as gifts this year but I want to figure out a clever way to "present" them to the recipients. Any ideas? Thank you!

Don't make it too fancy...wouldn't want them to think they're getting a "real" gift. Just kidding, we love the idea! Print out some info on the charity and wrap it simply in a cello bag with some festive ribbon. If your charity involves animals, maybe tie something around a cute stuffed one.

Heifer International

What's the name of that organization that buys animals for villages?

You must be thinking about Heifer International. In their "catalog." you can "purchase" an animal as a gift for a village--for example, you can buy a sheep for $120 or donate $10 for a share of a sheep. Their goal is to end hunger by helping people become self-sufficient. Great gift idea!

Last year Hilary bought Alyssa's daughter a cookbook and Annabelle has spent the better part of the year perfecting the cookbook's macaroni and cheese recipe. Here's her version--the first one the children like that doesn't come out of a box and doesn't involve some sort of flourescent orange substance. The topping is our own special addition...but be forewarned: you won't be able to stop at one bite! [see more]
